Specialist cleaning: Hoarders
A hoarding disorder is where someone acquires an excessive number of items and stores them in a chaotic manner. The items can be of little or no monetary value and usually result in unmanageable amounts of clutter. Sadly it is becoming an ever increasing problem, with many tv shows being dedicated to the issue.
It’s considered to be a significant problem if:
• The amount of clutter interferes with everyday living – for example, the person is unable to use their kitchen or bathroom and cannot access rooms easily
• The clutter is causing significant distress or negatively affecting the person’s quality of life or their family’s – for example, they become upset if someone tries to clear the clutter and their relationships with others suffer
• It can also have a detrimental effect on the health of the occupant, with an increased possibility of rats, mice and insects infesting the property, exacerbating allergies and causing illness and even death in extreme cases.
We can provide a removal and disposal service for all unwanted items in a property, allowing the resident to live a normal life. Alternatively, we can completely empty a property of all possessions, making it safe for tradesmen to enter the premises to carry out their work or make a property sale easier.
We have carried out many complete house clearances where the occupier has sadly deceased, and have cleared properties where the occupier plans to remain living there.
All waste / items removed are recycled where possible and any sensitive documents either returned to the family or shredded securely.
